Spring Eating: Six Tips For Eating More Veggies

The days are getting longer, and the weather is getting warmer, which only means one thing: spring is here. Spring cleaning is a must, and usually, that means it’s time to grab a vacuum and tackle those lingering dust bunnies once and for all. However, this year we are taking a different approach to our annual cleaning routine by tidying up our diets. That starts with eating more vegetables. These six simple steps will help you pack more veggies into your spring eating.

  1. Top your favorite dinners with sauteed vegetables

Instead of topping your meals with your everyday go-to, try adding peppers and onions sauteed with garlic and some of your favorite spices. The slight sweetness these veggies add is a perfect compliment to almost any flavor profile.

  1. Eat seasonally

The taste and quality of produce during its peak season is unbeatable. You’ll be wanting to eat more veggies in no time once you start eating with the seasons. Find vegetables that are in season in your area by clicking here.

  1. Sneak them into your sauces

Want an easy way to trick yourself into eating more veggies? Add them to your sauces! Finely chop vegetables and add them to any sauce you are making. Want to really hide them? Use an immersion blender to combine all of the ingredients for a silky smooth finish.

  1. Stock up on salsa

The low-cal condiment is full of flavor and fiber. Most salsa has a whole serving of vegetables in a half cup.

  1. Blend them into your morning smoothie

If you’re already starting your day off with a smoothie, this one should be easy to add to your regimen. Blend your favorite fruits, juice and creamy base with a few handfuls of spinach. You won’t even be able to tell the difference.

  1. Swap your pasta for veggie noodles

Lighten up your pasta dinner by swapping traditional noodles for veggies noodles. Use a spiralizer to create the thin noodle-esque slices. Don’t have a spiralizer? That’s okay! You can julienne your veggies and get the perfect noodles every time.

Hi Susan, thanks for reaching out!

At Green Chef we are genuinely passionate about organic food, sustainability, and animal welfare. Many of our ingredients are certified organic, but not all. Whether each ingredient is certified or not, we label it clearly and ensure that it meets the high standards kept for all products at Green Chef. The qualifications for meat to be certified organic are quite rigorous, and we currently do not use organic meats in our meal kits. We do provide lots of organic goodness inside every kit, and whether the ingredient is organic or not, we support producers with an emphasis on being local and family run who follow clean processes.
